Coffee Dude

2023 - 2024

The Coffee Dude is a mobile game concept developed in a collaborative team of eight, including designers, developers, and business strategists. The goal was to create a casual but satirical Android game with monetization potential and a B2B pitch format. I was responsible for the UX and UI design as well as for shaping the product experience.

My Role & Responsibilities

Conceptualizing core interaction flows for mobile gameplay.

Designing wireframes, interface layouts, and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma.

Collaborating closely with the dev team to align UI with technical feasibility.

Working with the business team to support the product pitch and monetization model.

UX Approach & Process

The design process started with sketching out simple game mechanics and translating them into mobile-friendly interactions. We conducted informal user testing to iterate on interface responsiveness, character feedback, and iconography.

5. Collaboration & Outcome

Working on The Coffee Dude taught me a lot about fast iteration, cross-functional teamwork, and designing for a dynamic, entertainment-focused product. The final pitch deck and prototype were well received and showcased as part of a gamified B2B solution.

6. Tools Used

Figma (UI Design & Prototyping)

Android Studio (for testing layouts)

Notion & Miro (Team planning & flow mapping)

7. Note

Looking back, The Coffee Dude was one of the most creatively freeing and collaborative projects I’ve worked on. It allowed me to experiment with playful, fast-paced interface design while working closely with developers and strategists in a tight team environment. Designing for a mobile game meant stepping out of strict UX frameworks and focusing more on emotional response, visual storytelling, and interaction rhythm.

This project taught me a lot about balancing usability with fun, and how crucial clear team communication is when turning a wild concept into a functioning prototype. It was also a chance to explore how UX design plays a role in entertainment products — a space I’d love to continue working in. While the project was fictional, the challenges and learning outcomes were very real — and I’m proud of what we built together.

5. Implementation and Handoff

The final design handed off to the development team, where it was implemented using the React.js framework. This process involved close collaboration to ensure the design's fidelity in the functional system.

Where the project stands today

At its current stage, The Coffee Dude exists as a high-fidelity prototype and a fully developed concept, including gameplay logic, core mechanics, interface design, and a monetization model. While it hasn’t yet moved into full development or release, it serves as a proof of concept — both as a playable UX/UI experience and as a team project that combined game design, branding, and business thinking.

What it can become

As a concept, The Coffee Dude has strong potential to evolve into a small-scale mobile game with a sharp, satirical tone and commercial appeal. It could also serve as a pitchable format for B2B gamification strategies or be adapted into an edutainment app or branded experience. The structure is flexible and modular, allowing for easy expansion into mini-games, user progression, or even brand collaborations.

Why it matters

More than anything, this project reflects the power of fast, creative collaboration — building something playful, expressive, and user-focused under real constraints. It was a testbed for my ability to design in a way that feels intuitive and delightful, while still grounded in clear UX logic. And while it hasn’t launched (yet), it’s a reminder that design is never wasted — especially when it sparks ideas and invites new directions.
